Thank you to Raymour & Flanigan for kindly sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.
We’ve been in our home for 1 year now and I’ve been patiently waiting to do a makeover in this beautiful space since closing day! Are you ready for the reveal?!
When we first looked at our house prior to putting in an offer, I fell in love with this one brightly lit room in particular. With walls of windows on 3 of the 4 sides of the room, the natural light beams through this space all day long. The previous owners used this as an office but we knew we wanted to put this space to good use. Since the room sits off of our kitchen, we decided right-off-the-bat to use it more for the kids because it was easy for me to keep my eye on them while I was in the kitchen. We put all of our old furniture in there from the last house, since the kids were going to be in there primarily.
But, that meant the room was a mod-podge of stuff...nothing matched or looked styled...and it was visible from the main "hub" of the house.
It didn’t take long until the girls toys, art supplies and dolls were thrown all over the place and trickling down the hall and into the kitchen daily. What was once my favorite room in the house, was now a hot mess playroom that I felt was a gorgeous space being wasted. It became the dumping ground and constantly made me feel anxious every time I would glance into the room.
Now that the girls are getting older, they are playing outside more, along with playing in their rooms and the basement with each other.
I decided now is the time to get my special room back!!
Tom and I really wanted, what was once dubbed the “kids room”, to be a nice sitting room for when we entertain. We wanted the space to be styled nicely, yet still feel comfortable and welcoming. We love hosting our friends and family and would like another comfortable space for them to utilize while the kids are tearing apart the basement.
We dreamed of making the space one that encouraged conversation. whether that be reminiscing on past memories with our friends and family or discussions of dreams in the future <3
If you guys have been following me since our move last November, you know one of the first rooms we furnished was our dining room. I was furniture shopping online for months before we actually bought anything. I came across a cabinet I loved from Raymour & Flanigan and that's where we ended up getting our dining room furniture. We had such a positive experience with them, I knew I wanted to go back to visit them when we decided to makeover the sitting room.
If you have shopped there before, you already know that visiting their showroom is a top notch customer service experience. We worked with Shawn a few weeks ago and he was nothing short of awesome! Raymour & Flanigan prides themselves in working with your style and budget and Shawn definitely helped guide me in those aspects. I had a "look" I was going for and a budget to stay under and he made it happen, along with the store manager, Geoff.
Another thing I love about the store is they offer delivery in 3 days or less. Being that we were shopping right before the holidays, I wanted to make sure wherever we got our furniture from, it could be here in time to enjoy for the holidays. This room is where we put our real Christmas tree and our family gifts go under the tree. The space is where we sit around in our pjs on Christmas morning and the room is filled with excitement.
I wanted to make sure the new furniture was a part of this year's holiday memories<3
Since I, once again, was furniture shopping online prior to going into the showroom, I already knew I wanted to match our home's farmhouse style; so I had a few sets on my radar. Tom and the girls were my quality control board...they tested all the furniture for comfort and durability : )
After spending 2 hours in the showroom, and the Raymour & Flanigan crew moving chairs around to give me the best visual of matching pieces, we decided on what we wanted- I love everything even more now that it's in our house!
We chose the Revina Collection, sofa and loveseat and chairs paired with the Murphy Collection coffee and end tables. We also added the Stapleton Console to replace the old Ikea dresser we were using under the tv in that room.
Everything was delivered in 3 days and I am in love with the transformation! We also took down the old ceiling fan and replaced it with a wooden light fixture that has a rustic lantern vibe.
We love spending time in this room, sitting around as a family. I'm really looking forward to hosting family and friends in this space and utilizing the room as a gathering spot in our home.
